MMA FAQ
Who is Billy Ho and why should I follow his training for MMA Fitness Program?
Ever since I was a child and got beat up by my older brother I was interested in self-defense, fighting, and physical conditioning. As a young child I trained in and competed in judo. However, I eventually quit judo to focus more on basketball.
After high school I started training in Muay Thai Kickboxing. I ended up studying grappling for a bit before meeting my current instructors Matt and Nick Serra. Although Matt and Nick are my main instructors I have also been trained by and have trained with many great professional martial artists including Mark Staniszewski (judo), Pete “Drago” Sell, George Sotiropoulos, John Danaher, Gregor Gracie, Ray Longo (Thai boxing), Luke Cummo, James Gabert, Joe Diable, and many other talented but lesser known individuals.
My time is split between helping martial artists improve technically as Chief Instructor along with Nick Serra at Serra Brazilian Jiu-jitsu of East Meadow and helping martial artists and others improve their conditioning. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree cum laude from Queens College in Nutrition and Exercise Sciences. I am also certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). I have written an e-book titled
21 Simple Steps to Losing Love Handles.
Finally, I'm also married to the sweetest girl, Melissa.

What exactly is MMA?
MMA is currently one of the fasted growing sports in America. The sport of MMA was originally created to pit athletes from different backgrounds against each other to see who would be dominant. Over time new rules and regulations were implemented to create the exciting, relatively safe sport of MMA that we now have today.
Who should train for MMA?
Anyone who wants to improve both physically and mentally would benefit from training for MMA. The training is relatively safe and instills discipline and confidence in those who train. Young children can begin doing some of the movements which will increase their strength, endurance, and hand-eye coordination. Older individuals will also benefit. They will receive the same benefits and will also enjoy the mental stimulation that comes with training in various martial arts.
